The Solar Stones
Seven fragments of the shattered sun, scattered across the continent. Each one alters the region where it lies in its own way.
Nearly a thousand years ago, the sun above Aeryndor shattered into seven fragments. These fragments — the Solar Stones — fell upon different regions and altered the laws of nature, climate and magic. Since then, each stone has been guarded by an Order.
The seven known stones: the Ignis Stone of Fire in Solareth, the Chrona Stone of Time in the Mistmarches, the Gravitas Stone of Gravity in the Shadow Mountains, the Vita Stone of Life in the Emerald Forests, the Lumen Stone of Light in Lythar, the Umbra Stone of Shadow beneath the ruins of Nareth, and the Tempest Stone of Storms somewhere in the Sea of Storms.
What the Solar Stones truly are is one of the central questions of the series. The official explanation says: magic. The truth is more complicated.
