On the night after the fragment strikes, Arkend burns. Soldiers of the Light Priests set the town ablaze.
The Light Priests sent soldiers to Arkend to destroy a map — the map belonging to Kael Ardyn's father, which shows an eighth Solar Stone that officially does not exist. They did not find the map. Kael had already taken it.
Arkend burned regardless.
The Fall of Arkend is the moment the story stops being personal and becomes a saga. It is the proof that the Orders are willing to kill to protect certain truths. And it is the moment Kael understands there is no way back.
